Problems with You Tube

Youtube is the Internets main video website - there must be billions of gigabytes of video on there - lots of the stuff there is good - some is rubbish, some is questionable to say the least! However, people put a lot of effort in to creating original video that could be used in Worship events (motions backgrounds, loops etc) - but youtube make it very difficult (impossible) to actually use the videos posted there. - let look at this in more detail and see where motionshare.com fits in...

No Download

For a start, youtube is a service designed to let you play video online. There isn't a download button, and they make it technically difficult to download the video files in the first place.

On Motionshare.com, videos have a download button, this lets you download the original version of the video. There isn't a 'motionshare.com ' watermark. The format and resolution depends on what the original is, but it's there for you to download. We also don't have any download restrictions - you can download as many videos as you like.

Legal Restrictions

The reason you can't download videos is that it's againast there terms and conditions in the first place!

There terms state:

6.G. you agree not to access User Videos (as defined below) for any reason other than your personal, non-commercial use solely as intended through and permitted by the normal functionality of the Services, and solely for Streaming.

So, we can't download a video file from youtube and play it at a church service even if we could and wanted to.

At motionshare, videos are shared by the person who made them, and you are able to play/edit them as you wish. (You can't sell them though) More info on our license page.

File size limits

Youtube doesn't like videos that are longer than 10 minutes or so. This is fine in most cases, but some mini-movies can be longer than that.

The only limit on motionshare.com is a 2 gigabyte file size limit.

Yet the new EasyWorship (2009) has the ability to play YouTube videos full screen live from YouTube - maybe they "get away" with it because it's streaming, not downloaded (which, as much as YouTube stops and buffers, can be a risky thing)!
